Every Child Learning is a new pan-Nordic project finding solutions to the learning crisis and improving children's learning – efficiently and effectively.

Education for every child

The goal of the Every Child Learning project is to find new, scalable solutions to the learning crisis and improve children's learning in an efficient and effective way in sub-Saharan Africa. The project focuses on researching and testing the best teaching solutions and using them to increase the effectiveness of the region's educational programmes.

Private sector faces a global challenge

The five-year long Every Child Learning project is carried out in cooperation between UNICEF's Research Centre Innocent and UNICEF's country offices. The project started in 2025, and is privately funded by a group of companies, foundations and individuals who want to be involved in solving the global challenges of education. We are now looking for partners for the next phases of the project through Nordic cooperation.

The learning crisis needs system-level changes.

The learning crisis requires effective and scalable solutions

More and more children can go to school, but a large proportion do not learn the basic skills needed there. The situation is particularly challenging in sub-Saharan Africa.

The global learning crisis has significant and long-term negative consequences for both children and the future of entire societies. Investing in learning can significantly reduce regional poverty and inequality and increase economic growth.

Systemic changes are needed to resolve the situation.

According to Bo Viktor Nylund, Director of Innocenti, the private sector plays an important role in solving the learning crisis.
